| Our 100th Anniversary is only a little more than a year away!
Let’s
use this event as an opportunity to re-engage with our Scouting alumni.
After all, there have been well over 100 million of us in the last 99
years. Probably 50 million of us have not yet gone to that Great
Scoutmaster in the sky. Let’s re-activate as many of our fellow alumni
as possible. How many times has someone come up to you and started
talking about their prior experiences in Scouting when they see you in
uniform or wearing a Scouting hat or T-shirt? I’ve had tons of people
come up to me and proudly recite the Scout Oath and Scout Law many, many
years after their last unit meeting or camping trip as a youth!
We need a lot of these folks right now. We need more volunteers. We
need more good will. We need more donors. We need more supporters. We
need more parents & grandparents sending their kids and grandkids to us!
And, we could use those parents & grandparents as well.
It doesn’t take much to rekindle fond memories of past Scouting
things like the fellowship of sitting around the campfire with the smell
of wood smoke in the air and tall tales of the day’s Scouting adventures
flying back and forth among troop mates.
The BSA Alumni Connection project has been designed as a tool to help
us reconnect with those former Scouts out there. It ties in with our
100th Anniversary, and encourages Scouting alumni to celebrate the past
and move forward with us into the future and our next 100 years!
Here are some resources. Good luck and good Scouting!
